State and National Standards

Monday February 16, 2009
Teachers, especially new ones, often find that dealing with state and national standards can be very confusing. Most schools require lesson plans to be turned in with the state standards listed. At the same time, however, teachers may be directed to national standards created by organizations like the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE). To add to this confusion, states periodically go through standards changes, yet textbooks that are based on the new standards can often lag a year or more behind. My newest article focuses on the world standards to help give a better insight for new and veteran teachers.
