Top 10 Reasons to Become a Teacher

Saturday August 1, 2009
Teaching is a special calling. It is not a job well-suited to everyone. In fact, many new teachers leave within the first 3-5 years of teaching. However, there are many rewards that come with this oft-maligned career. Here are my top ten reasons why teaching can be a great profession.

Hi Melissa,
Your writing reminded me of my own experiences. I was a university faculty member for a couple of years, was a piano teacher for kids, and now I am a seasoned lecturer (as I am no longer in education). The teaching experiences really enriched my life in a different way. Seeing the progress of a to be succesfull students, buddying students, learning/deepening new topics, etc are only small things I got. Yes you are right on what you put in your writing :) .

Dear Mam Melissa, Hello…Just want to “Thank You so Much!” for the very informative and self-learning education-information, techniques and strategies you’ve shared. I am a Secondary School Teacher here in the Philippines, and currently waiting for my teaching application as SpEd-Teacher in North Carolina, hopefully this year, if Hod allows… You’re one-great instrument God has bless me so I may be prepared in the US-setting classroom instruction.

Good day ma’am, I am Paulo Cuento, a 3rd year Journalism student in the University of Santo Tomas. I really wanted to take BSE in college but I needed to study journalism first because of financial reasons. I want to get a license for teaching but I don’t know the requirements and I have no idea on how many additional subjects/units I need to take before I can qualify as a teacher. If you have time, please send me the information in my email (paulo_cuento@yahoo.com). Thank you in advance. I wish more people would be encouraged to teach, especially in the Philippines.
