Over the years, I have found that many students are interested in learning more about the people behind inventions or key moments in history. By bringing home the fact that these individuals were not always the greatest at school (Albert Einstein) or might have suffered from issues like depression (Vincent Van Gogh), students can begin to see that their own issues can be overcome. I have created and used a biographical framework over the years that has provided students with an easy method to collect information about individuals. Sometimes I have used it just as it is for a quick assignment. However, I have also found it effective as a method to organize information about an individual before the student embarks on writing a much more detailed report.
