Answer: Shi'ites accepted only descendants of Ali (Muhammad's son-in-law) as the true rulers of Islam. Sunnites claimed the descendants of the Umayyads were the true rulers (Caliphs).


5. Where di the Abbasids build the new capital for the Muslim world in 762?
Answer: Baghdad
