This framework can be used to compare two or more individuals or items.
Difficulty: Average
Time Required: 1 Class
Here's How:
- Pick a category which you wish to use as your basis for your compare/contrast framework. An example might be 'Robber Barons'.
- Choose two to four persons or items that you wish to compare and contrast within your category from step #1. Examples for Robber Barons would include Cornelius Vanderbilt and Jay Gould.
- Have the class brainstorm six to 10 characteristics that they believe are common to the chosen people/items.
- Have each student create a chart on their own paper. See an example of a completed chart under Related Features below.
- Place the names of the subjects to be compared along the top of the chart.
- Place each of the characteristics from step #2 down the left side of the chart.
Tips:
- The completed chart is a great jumping off point for compare/contrast essays.
