Contracting for Your Grade

In order to provide sufficient challenge for the more able students without making the course impossible for less able students, the quarter grade in this class will be determined by difficulty of the assignments as well as the quantity and quality of your work. You should decide early in the term which grade you want to work for so that you will make wise choices. See the criteria below and circle the grade you plan to earn.

Weighting of assignments

Weighting of assignments will be made by adding multiple grades. For example, a vocabulary test may be worth one 88% while an essay may be worth two or three grades of 88%. I will write the weighting factor at the top of the paper beside the grade. You should record the grade and the factor on your assignment page in a way that makes sense to you.
