Advice for New Teachers

Quick Teaching Tip

By , About.com Guide

Never admit your own inexperience teaching. If it is your first year teaching, don't advertise that fact. Most states have student teaching so you can say that you have taught before your current assignment. With that said, it is very important that you admit to your students when you don't know something. For example, if they ask you a question about your subject that you just don't know the answer to, you should feel free to say that you don't know and then explain how you will find out or give the student an opportunity to find out for themselves, possibly for extra credit.
