Something that will really upset students is having a poor or nonexistent late work policy. Students want to feel that you are fair. If you accept late work without penalty, what is the incentive for getting work on time? Your policy needs to be consistent and easy to apply. For example, you might accept work one day late with a set penalty of a certain number of points. Make sure that you have a system in place for notating this penalty as work is turned in.
