Overcrowding in Schools

Quick Teaching Tip

By , About.com Guide

If you start the year with an overcrowded room, it is very important that you do not blame the students for the situation. When a new student comes into your class, and there are no seats available, that student already feels out of place. Don't make comments like, "I don't know where you're going sit" or "I can't believe they sent you here too." The best way to approach this with the students is to have a sense of humor and assure them that it will all be worked out soon. Place them in the best situation you can and proceed as if it were a normal day.
