This language arts/technology lesson plan comes from Beth Caspersen:

Topic: A brief biography of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Sherlock Holmes.
Resources: PowerPoint, computer with TV hook-up
Lesson time: one 45-minute class period.

Rationale: Using PowerPoint technology, students will be introduced to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and his works concerning Sherlock Holmes. This can be used during a unit on mystery and included with Doyle's work The Hound of the Baskervilles.

Objectives: Students will demonstrate base knowledge about Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and his character Sherlock Holmes by completing a short multiple-choice quiz. Students will solve mini-mysteries and logic puzzles in groups in preparation for puzzles to be given throughout the unit.

Steps: 1)Introduce the author and give a brief biography of his life.
2)Introduce his character, Sherlock Holmes.
3) Give background information about the character where and when he was first introduced musical preference style of dress/image
4) Use a PowerPoint presentation with logic puzzles and mini-mysteries for students to solve
